Lady Jets shut out 10-0 by Coffee County Tuesday night


CROSSVILLE — After finishing 2-2 in the Duff Tournament in Cookeville last weekend, the CCHS Lady Jet softball team dropped a 10-0 District 6AAA game at Coffee County Tuesday night in their final regular season trip to the Manchester school.

Coffee County 10, CCHS 0: Lady Red Raider pitching allowed only four hits — two by Brienna Qualls and one each by Whitney Hankins and Amber Johnson.

Hankins was the losing pitcher, allowing five runs on eight hits with one walk in four innings, while Qualls yielded five runs on five hits with one walk and one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings.

Duff Tournament

Mt. Juliet 3, CCHS 0: The Lady Jets were shut out 3-0.

Qualls and Tori Kerley poked the only hits for CCHS.

Hankins pitched four innings, allowing three runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout, while Qualls gave up one hit with one strikout.

Mt. Juliet scored one run in the bottom of the second and two in the bottom of the fourth.

CCHS 6, Livingston 1: The Lady Jets scored once in the bottom of the second and five in the third to take the victory.

Hankins picked up the victory, allowing one run on three hits with three Ks.

Leading hitters were  Emily Terpening (double, one run scored, one RBI), Erin Dille (one hit), Tori Kerley (two hits, one run scored), Hankins (two hits, an RBi, one run scored) and Amber Johnson (one hit, two RBIs). Kenzie Woods, Bailey Woods and Destiny Lewis each scored one run. Lewis had a stolen base.

CCHS 5, White House 1: The Lady Jets scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the victory, after tying the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Terpening slammed a homer with four RBIs for the Lady Jets, while Bailey Woods had three hits, two runs scored and four stolen bases. Other leading hitters were Kenzie Woods (two hits), Kerley (one hit), Hankins (one hit) and Borgialli (two hits). Katie Van Horn also stole a base.

Qualls was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on five hits with four Ks.

Upperman 2, CCHS 1: The Lady Jets banged out eight hits in the loss — Terpening, Dille, Kenzie Woods, Kerley, Bailey Woods and Borgialli, all with one hit, and Qualls with two hits.

Johnson and Bailey Woods each swiped a base.

Qualls worked two thirds of an inning, while Hankins worked 3 1/3 innings to take the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits with three walks and one K.

Schedule: The Lady Jets (10-11) hosted Cookeville Thursday night and wrapped up the week in the Coffee County Tournament.
