Underwood, Williams win at Crossville Raceway

CROSSVILLE — Another beautiful day welcomed the racers and fans to Crossville Raceway last Saturday night. With the racing that had been put on the two previous weeks, one would think that this week would be no different, and the racers did not dissapoint.

Dwarf class: Cody Garrison and Joseph Underwood won the heat races.

Mike Wood started the feature in the lead, ahead of Garrison, Jonathan Allen and Underwood.

On lap three, Underwood passed Allen for third.

Shawn Thomas slipped by Allen for fourth on lap six. Underwood got by Garrison for second on lap 11.

On lap 12, Thomas passed by Garrison for third. Wood led the entire race until lap 18, when Underwood powered by for the lead. Underwood led the final two laps for the second win of the season.

Wood finished second, with Thomas third, Devin Wright fourth, Cody Garrison fifth, Larry Garrison sixth, Jim Meadows seventh, Allen eighth, Ron Dodson ninth and Ty Bowman tenth.

Late Models: Brett Wyatt set the fast time in qualifying with a lap of 13.45, with Jeff Walker second quickest at 13.687.

Brandon Williams won the first heat, with Wyatt second and Buddy Knox third.

Joe Cline took the second heat, with Walker second and Justin Tabor third.

There were 16 drivers in the 25-lap feature, with Williams taking the lead ahead of Wyatt and Knox.

With only one caution during the race, the field spread out quickly throughout the track. Knox pressured Wyat for second during the middle of the race.

Knox got by Wyatt for second on lap 23, only to have Wyatt pass Knox one lap later.

Upfront, Wiliams took his first win of the year.

Wyatt was second, with Knox third, Wallker fourth, Cline fifth, Layne Clifton sixth, Ronnie Choate Jr. seventh, Nick Clayborn eighth, Tabor ninth and Mark Allon Martin 10th.

Sportsman: Joey Whittenburg dominated the class over Daniel Young, with Doug Gordon third and Jack Conley fourth.

Street Stock: Dwayne Fox won the heat race. He jumped into the early lead in the 20-lap feature over Sam Baisley, who made two or three attempts to pass Fox, who held on for the victory.

Baisley, last week's feature winner, was second, with Darrin Busler third, Willie Busler fourth and Justin Turner fifth.

Hornet class: Cody Rector held off a determined Derik Duggan to win the heat race. Duggan cruised to an easy victory in the feature race, with Dan Duggan second, Jim Johnson third, Stephen Conley four and Rector fifth.
