The Stone Memorial Panther baseball team dropped a make-up game at Rhea County Wednesday evening 6-2.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the game was scoreless for four innings before the Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning, but the Golden Eagles scored three runs in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to take the district victory.
Senior Mike Garrison tossed a one-hitter with 14 strkeouts to pick up the victory for the Golden Eagles (7-14, 2-9). Jordan Brown went two for four.
Jason Moldenhauer was the losing pitcher, allowing six runs on six hits, while Gabe Callabero had a two-run double for the Panthers (9-13, 4-7).
Coupled with CCHS' 8-4 win over Cookeville and White County's 5-2 win over Warren County Wednesday night, the Cavaliers led the league at 8-3, followed by CCHS (7-4), Warren County (6-5), White County (6-5), SMHS (4-7) and Rhea County (2-9) with four league games remaining for each school.
Schedule: The Panthers travel to Sweetwater Friday for a non-district game to cap spring break, before hosting CCHS Monday at 5:30 p .m. and visiting Jet Park Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers will travel to Knox Powell April 23 and host Anderson County April 25.
