Still time to join Mountaineers for camps


CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County Mountaineers junior football and cheerleading program is accepting sign-ups for its 2013 season and hosting its annual football and cheerleading camp for children ages four through 12, with camp starting Monday.

Interested persons can sign up at the Centennial Park Office now through Friday for camp and through July 29 for the season. Camp for football and cheerleading will be held June 24-28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p,m. at the Mountaineer practice field located off Hwy 70N just past the farmers market and community complex entrance.

Participants can also register to sign up for camp at the field on Monday at 5 p.m. before camp starts. Participants will be taught the fundamentals of football or cheerleading and do not have to participate in the regular season to participate in camp.

Practice for the regular season begins July 29, with practices Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7 p.m. each week. Practice times may vary with cheerleading. Games are each Saturday.

The Cumberland County Mountaineers are part of the Tennessee Valley Conference and play Monterey, Pikeville, Grundy County and Dunlap. Registration fee for the 2013 season is $65 per child with discounts available for each additional child in the same household.
