Stone goes 1-2 in Mountain Man classic

CROSSVILLE — The Stone Memorial Panthers finished 1-2 in the Mountain Man Classic Thursday and Saturday, with Friday's games at SMHS washed out.

In an epic offensive battle Thursday night, the Panthers came from behind to win an epic 18-17 battle with the Anderson County Mavericks.

Rayne Bennett posted the win from the mound for the home team.

Leadoff batter Austin Helton scored Stone's first and last run reaching first base five times on three hits, a walk and an error.  Luke Matthews added a double and a single. Jason Moldenhauer contributed a triple.  Gabriel Caballero slapped a single.  Going 3-4 with two singles and a double was senior Nathan Greene. A.J. Tarallo added a timely double. John Martin also went 3-4 with three singles. Sawyer Casey ripped two singles, and Clay Wilson hit the game winning RBI.

The Panthers lost to Knox Bearden and Upperman Saturday.

Schedule: The Panthers hosted Scott County in a District 4AA double-header Monday afternoon and will travel to South Pittsburg Friday evening.
