Cole voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

CROSSVILLE — The 2013-2014 Capital One Academic All-District Men's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, were announced today.  The award honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Bryan College's Brandon Cole was selected to the District 2 College Division's First Team.

In order to be nominated for the award, the nominee must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials, and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games (in the position listed on the nomination form). Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale). Nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at your institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one academic year at your institution.

Cole currently has a 3.68 grade point average as an exercise and health science major. At the time of the nomination, Cole had achieved the following: started all 18 games; averaged 36.6 minutes per game; had a field goal percentage  of .521; averaged 24.39 points per game; averaged 11.72 rebounds per game; had been named AAC Player of the Week three times already; was leading the AAC in total points scored (439), rebounds per game (11.72), total rebounds (211), offensive rebounds per game (4.17), defensive rebounds per game (7.56), and double-doubles (11). Cole was named the AAC Freshman of the Year and was voted on to the AAC All-Freshman Team last season.

First-team Academic All-District men's basketball honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected.
