Beatty Memorial Golf Tournament set Sept. 21-22

The longest running tournament in Cumberland County, the John Beatty Memorial, will tee off for the 32nd time Sept. 21-22 at the Dorchester Golf Club in Fairfield Glade. The tournament had been played for the first 31 years the first weekend in November.

The 36-hole, four-person scramble will use an A, B, C, D player format per team. Teams are blind drawn by the tournament committee and will be flighted after the first round.

The entry fee is $125 per player, which includes golf and cart for both days, tournament prizes, special event prizes and lunch after the first round. The entry fee must accompany the completed entry form. Incomplete entry forms will not be accepted. There will be no refunds for cancellations after Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m.

The field is limited to the first 128 paid players by the entry deadline of Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.

Handicap and handicap index must be included on the entry form and must be an approved GHIN handicap or verified by the home club professional. If verified by home club professional, include the professional's club, address and phone number. Entrants whose handicaps are not verifiable will not be accepted.

Players, who are 65 and over and have a handicap established from the gold tees, will be allowed to play from the gold tees.

Due to the popularity of this tournament, entrants are cautioned not to assume acceptance into the tournament. It will be each entrant's responsibility to notify the professional staff at Dorchester Golf Course — Jack Sixkiller and Corey Wade — to verify acceptance, by calling (931) 484-3709.

There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start both days and come prepared to play in poor weather.
