Young takes top honors in second junior golf event


CROSSVILLE — The Golf Capital of Tennessee Junior Tour (GCJT) held its second event June 18 at   Heatherhurst Golf Club in Fairfileld Glade.

Zack Young won the boys 13-14 division with a 39, followed by Hogan Herring (41) and Chandler Shelton (42).

Justin Reed was the winner in the boys 11-12 division with a 48, followed by Leif Smith (52) and Tyson Welsh (53).

In the 9-10 boys, Riley Day won with a 52, followed by Jackson Inman (58) and Jaxon Reed (51.

Kelsey Neely won the girls 11-12 with a 52, while Jordan Herring had a 37 in the girls 9-10, which plays only five holes.

There are two more events remaining on the schedule — July 11 at Bear Trace and July 16 at Lake Tansi.

"It is not too late to join and play in the July events," said Coach Randy Herring.
