CROSSVILLE — Druid Hills Golf Course, for the second straight year, held a tournament Saturday, Sept. 24, to benefit the Pinewood Pre-School in Crossville. The benefit helps raise funds to purchase educational materials for the three- and four-year old children.

Janet and Leroy, tournament directors, met with Jerri Cobb, a supervisor and teacher at Pinewood, and decided this would  be a very worthwhile project.

There were 84 golfers, with 20 couples playing the front nine and 21 couples playing the back nine. These couples raised $930 to be given to the Pinewood Pre-School for their educational materials.

Bill and Elaine Walker won the front nine with a four-under-par 32, while John and Sue Dwyer won the back nine with a two-under-par 34.

In the couples blind draw format, Bill and Elaine Walker,  with their 32, and Ralph and Carol Rupp, with a 42, for a total of 74, won the front nine.

The winners on the back nine were Gil Bromberek and Sandy Richmond (35) and Mike Bonfield and Janet Flanagan (40) for a total of 75.

Larry and Diana Henderson (33) finished second on the front nine, and Gil Bromberek and Sandy Richmond (35) were second on the back nine.

Finishing second in the blind draw format was Larry and Diana Henderson (33) and Bill and Melinda Stra (41) for a total of 74. On the back nine, John and Sue Dwyer (34) and Skip and Pat Lundin (43) for a 76 to finish second.
