Three earn Bo Patton CRYSA Scholarships

CROSSVILLE — Crossville Recreational Youth Soccer Association is proud to announce its Bo Patton Memorial Scholarship Awards. This is the ninth year of awarding scholarships to the local soccer scholars.

The awards this year have been earned by Mia Mijatovic, Jarrod Lee and Mario Martinez. All three students are honor students, have played several years, both in CRYSA and for their local high schools.

Mia Mijatovic is a Tennessee Scholar, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, Bread of Life and is the president of the CCHS Interact Club.  She plans to major in Fashion Merchandising at Middle Tennessee State University.

Jarrod Lee is graduating with Honors from CCHS.  He volunteers with the Toy Story Ministry of Central Baptist Church. He plans to start his college career at Roane State and eventually transferring to a local university to study pre-dentistry.  His ultimate goal is to become a dentist.

Mario Martinez is an honor student from SMHS. He volunteers at Bread of Life and has been very active with his church, participating in missions, locally, to Nashville, Murfreesboro, Crossville and to Kentucky.  He will attend Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN and plans on majoring in the area of Church Ministries.

CRYSA is very proud that these students will represent the community and that the funds from this award provide the tools to allow them to be successful students in their areas of study.

Funding for this scholarship comes from our annual summer camp proceeds.  CRYSA would like to thank all of the dedicated volunteers which make this event successful for our local youth. The organization especially would like to thank its local financial sponsors, past and present — Century 21 Realty Group LLC, Jeannie’s Hallmark, TAP, Surgery Center, First National Bank of Tennessee, Cancun Mexican Restaurant, Dr. Peasley/Physician Associates, Big Boys Bar-B-Q, Glade Realty, ADA Satellite, Strong Insurance, Cumberland County School Nutrition Program and the City of Crossville.

The ninth CRYSA soccer camp will be held at the Carl T. Duer Soccer Complex from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 3-7. If you are between the ages of 6 and 18 and want to learn new soccer skills or simply get to know the game of soccer, this is the place to be.

The camp features current and former CCHS and SMHS players as coaches and is run by Geir Bergvin.

This is the second year for the Elite soccer camp. Coached by AR Richardson and Geir Bergvin, players that are 12 years or older (or prior-approved if younger) or have played soccer for more than six (6) years may attend. This part of camp is for advanced players and focuses on both the technical and tactical parts of the game. All camp proceeds will fund the Bo Patton soccer scholarship.

You may still sign up at Century 21 Realty Group at 890 North Main Street (across from Flowers Bakery). If you have questions, please call (931) 248-1616. Half-day camp costs $65; full-day costs are $110; elite camp costs are $160. The deadline for camp registration is May 18, 2013.
