CROSSVILLE — The District 4A/AA Tennis Tournament was hosted and directed by Stone Memorial High School Coach Ray Hawn May 6-7, but the first day of tournament began at the indoor courts of the Fairfield Glade Tennis Center after a three-hour delay and returned to the SMHS courts later in the afternoon to complete the first round of matches.

Hawn praised head professional William Taylor and the staff of Fairfield Glade Tennis Center by saying, "The generous support and accommodations made by the tennis center got us out of a tough situation with the weather conditions at the beginning of the tournament. Will Taylor and the tennis center staff are first class."

The second day of tournament play was completed on the campus of SMHS in near-perfect tennis weather.

Sophomore Ali Harris of Stone Memorial High School emerged as the A-AA District 4 girls singles champion, winning all her district tournament matches in 6-0, 6-0 straight sets. She remains undefeated in pre-season, regular season and post season and defeated senior Jessica Dunn of Alcoa High School in the championship round 6-0, 6-0 to win the gold medal for District 4 Girls singles.

Mark Brown and Tyler Yoder of SMHS finished second in doubles, falling to the CAK doubles team of Fussell/Murchison.

Harris' gold medal win and Brown/Yoder's silver medal finish will advance them to the regional tournament play in Pigeon Forge May 14.
