The CCHS boys and girls cross country team competed Oct. 24 in the Region 3AAA race in Dayton and earned a trip to the Class 3A state meet at Percy Warner Park in Nashville Nov. 2.
The Jets finished second behind Cookeville, as Ben Tabor set a school record with a time of 16:51 to finish overall, while the Lady Jets one point for first place behind the Cookeville Lady Cavaliers.
Other boys times were Bradley Mathis,sixth (finishing with a personal record 17:07), Nathan Phillips, 14th (18:06); Kevin Buffkin, 19th (18:20); Kyle Lockwood, 31st (a personal record 18:58); Ryan Tabor (19:38) and Brady Adams (20:08).
Tyler Boniol was 23:32 in the junior varsity race.
Kassidy Sommer finished third in 20:29, followed by Chelsey Roysdon, sixth (21:09); Caroline Cravens, eighth (21:37); Selinda Bryant, 13th (22:10); Selinda Bryant, 13th (a personal record 22:10); Lindsey Roysdon, 19th (22:41); Taylor Hammons, (personal record 24:17); and Madeline Toy (27:46).
