Jet cross country teams to compete in region Thursday

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School cross country teams will be competing in the region tournament Thursday at Dayton, after completing the regular season Oct. 17 in the Front Runner Athletics Area Cross Country championship at Baylor School in Chattanooga.

The Lady Jets finished sixth with 155 points behind Signal Mountain, Heritage (Catoosa, GA), Baylor School, GPS and Home School of Chattanooga and ahead of 11 other schools.

Kassidy Sommer finished eighth to lead the Lady Jets in 19:47.77, followed by Chelsey Roysdon (23:12.99), Caroline Cravens (21:29.48); Lindsey Roysdon (22:29.70), Selinda Bryant (22:36.90), Taylor Hammons (24:24.37) and Madeline Toy (27:37.17).

The Jets finished 11th with 196 points behind McCallie, Baylor, Coahula Creek, Ooltewah, Northwest Whitfield, Heritage (Catoosa, GA), Soddy-Daisy, Dalton High School and Signal Mountain and ahead of 20 other schools.

Ben Tabor finished 20th in 17:21.50 to lead the Jets, followed by Bradley Mathis (17:39.09), Nathan Phillips (17:50.96), Ryan Tabor (20:25.25) and Tyler Boniol (22:0.29).

Alison Sherer finished 37th in 24:43.37 in the girls junior varsity division.
