Junior varsity hoop tourney under way

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County elementary junior varsity tournament opened Saturday at Brown Elementary with a full slate of first round games, with the semi-finals played Monday night and the championship games Thursday evening. No results were received at press time Monday morning from Saturday's action.

The regular season wrapped up Thursday night with these double-headers — Brown at Pleasant Hill, South at Martin, Homestead at Stone, Crab Orchard at North. Just a few results were received by press time Monday, also.

Homestead at Stone

Homestead 45, Stone 11: Brett Newcome poured in 18 points to lead the Bulldog junior varsity to a season-ending win over Stone.

Chase VanRuden led Stone with three points.

Pleasant Hill 26, Brown 10: Rebekah Noland tallied 10 points to lead the Lady Hornets over the Lady Bears.

Ellizabeth Squier led Brown with six points.

Collin Howard-Brown and Zach Brooks led Brown with seven points each.

North 39, Crab Orchard 15: Reece Stover tallied 10 points to lead the Lady Patriots over the Lady Tigers.

Taylor Polk led Crab Orchard with eight points.
