Warriors dominate Panthers in their home-and-home series

CROSSVILLE — Returning from spring break proved to be a difficult transition for the SMHS Panther baseball team, as they dropped a pair of District 4AA games to the Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) Warriors.

CAK 10, SMHS 0: In Monday night's game at CAK, Stone lost 10-0, and this talented group of young men faced the same team at home on Tuesday night and was humbled by a 13-1 score.

John Martin started Monday night on the mound and was relieved by Clay Wilson. Luke Matthews finally got Stone's first hit in the top of the fourth, followed by singles from Austin Helton and Jason Moldenhauer.  The rally ended with A.J. Tarallo sending a grounder to the shortstop who threw Moldenhauer out at second.

Sawyer Casey was left stranded on first after being hit by a pitch in the fifth.

Moldenhauer doubled in the sixth and advanced to third on a fielder's choice by Nathan Greene. He was stranded at third to end the game.

CAK 13, SMHS 1: Nathan Greene was the starting pitcher Tuesday night.

The first inning was riddled with infield errors, allowing the Warriors to post seven runs, only two were earned.

CAK scored two more runs in the top of the second on two Panther errors.

A. J. Tarallo came in for relief, with errors also plaguing his time on the mound.

The home team bats proved to be almost silent with the exception of hits from Moldenhauer who singled in the second, but was caught stealing second. Luke Matthews singled in the third to bring John Martin home after he walked for Stone's only run. Gabriel Caballero doubled in the fifth.

Schedule: The Panthers hosted Rockwood Thursday night and Meigs County Friday, before hosting Kingston Monday in a District 4AA match-up.
