Jets round up Buffaloes for second win of season

CROSSVILLE — Logan Parsons and Cade Smith tallied 21 and 18 points to lead the Jets to a 63-46 victory over the Clarkrange Buffaloes Friday night.

"We were prepared. Every kid what his role was," said Jet Coach Will Foster, whose team improved to 2-3 overall.

Rounding out the scoring for the Jets were Jordan Graham (one point), Diego Poore (seven points, one rebound, two steals), David Elliott (two points, three rebounds), Drew Vaden (two points), Austin Brown (two points), Tyler Daugherty (three points), Blake McLaughlin (five points) and Ty Tabor (two points, three rebounds). Tanner Christopher (two rebounds), Alex Dixon (two rebounds), Nolan McClain (four rebounds) and Brandon Myers also played.

Parsons added three rebounds, one assist and three steals, while Smith chipped in two boards and one steal.

CCHS opened the game with a 6-0 run, but Landon Baldwin scored with 4:59 left to slice the deficit to 6-2. A trey by Smith triggered a 14-2 run to give the Jets a  20-4 lead with 2:43 left in the first quarter.

Both teams finished the stanza with five points to make the score 25-9.

CCHS was 10 of 14 from the field, while holding Clarkrange to five of 12 with eight turnovers.

Parsons and Smith each scored five points in a 10-7 run to take a 35-14 lead, but a trey by Baldwin sliced that lead to 35-17. CCHS finished the half with a 4-1 run to take a 39-18 lead at the break.

Eight points by Parsons in the third quarter sparked a 20-14 run to take a 59-32 advantage. CCHJS was eight of 12 from the floor, while holding Clarkrange to five of seven with seven turnovers.

Clarkrange used a 7-0 run to slice the Jets' lead to 59-39, before Drew Vaden converted a layup to stop the bleeding. The Buffaloes finished the quarter with a 7-2 spurt for the final score of 63-46.

The Jets were one of seven from the field and two for six from the charity stripe with turnovers, as Foster and assistants Blaine Moore and Scot Davis cleared the bench in the final eight minutes.

The Jet junior varsity also was victorious Friday night, as CCHS recorded a sweep of the games.

CCHS (2-3) will travel to East Hamilton tonight for a 6:30 p.m. CST game and return to action Dec. 6 at Warren County.
