CROSSVILLE — Bad weather forced cancellation of the following Stone Memorial tennis matches — March 18 Kingston (Home), March 19 Rockwood (Away), March 21 Loudon Co. (Home), March 25 CCHS (Home) and March 26 Rockwood (Home).

For the first time in school history, two tennis matches were canceled due to snow-covered courts — Loudon and CCHS remain canceled, but Rockwood is rescheduled to Friday, April 12, at SMHS and Kingston is rescheduled to Monday, April 22 at SMHS.

After the string of bad weather and spring break, the Panthers finally resumed play against the #1 team in the district — Christian Academy of Knoxville.

The SMHS Lady Panthers lost their district match in Knoxville on Tuesday against the powerful Warriorettes of CAK by a score of 1-8.

Ali Harris won #1 girls singles 8-5 over Leighton Porter. Peyton Franklin and Elise Myslinski played well at #2 doubles, but came up short 4-8 against Fromke and Dunn.

The Panther boys tennis team took a tough 1-8 loss to the district powerhouse CAK Warriors. Panther senior Trent Campbell and freshman Stephen Tung partnered to post the only match win 8-6 over their #2 doubles opponents of Houser and Little.

Tyler Yoder and Parker Hill lost a close match at #1 doubles 5-8 against Murchison and Robbins.

The Lady Panthers are now 2-1 in district play and 2-2 overall.  The Panther boys are 2-1 in districts and 3-1 overall.  The Panthers visited district foe Kingston Thursday to take on the Yellowjackets and play district opponent Rockwood at home this afternoon, weather permitting.
