Stone Memorial traveled to Loudon for a close District 4AA contest on Wednesday night with the Redskins, but came home with a 4-3 loss in extra innings.
With the score tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the eighth, Loudon's Cody Townson singled and scored the winning unearned run on back-to-back errors by the Panthers.
John Martin started the game on the mound for the Panthers to face Redskin Caleb Holt. Jason Moldenhauer came to the mound in relief after 5 2/3 innings.
Luke Matthews drove the first hit of the game in the top of the first, followed by Austin Helton's walk, but both would be left on base.
Martin struck out the side in the bottom of the first inning.
Holt returned the favor in the top of the second, as the first three Redskins singled and then a walk brought home Ryan McNabb with the first run for the hosts.
Trent Elliot scored an unearned run in the third to increase the lead to two runs.
Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth, with Panther bats getting hot in the fifth. Moldenhauer was hit by a pitch and stole second. Luke Matthews' second single of the night plated Moldenhauer. Nathan Greene ripped a double down the third base line to score Matthews.
Helton reached on his third walk of the evening. A.J. Tarallo roped a single to score Greene for SMHS to take a 3-2 lead.
Elliot tied the game in the bottom of the fifth after reaching on a walk and scoring on back-to-back singles.
Stone hosted the Midway Green Wave Thursday and will travel to Fulton tonight. The Panthers play at CCHS Monday and host the Jets Tuesday.
Tuesday night's home game against Loudon has been rescheduled for April 29.
