Rockwood blanks SMHS 1-0 Friday in district soccer

CROSSVILLE — The Stone Memorial soccer team was shut out 1-0 by Rockwood last Friday to fall to 0-2 on the young season.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel on Saturday, the score was tied 0-0 at the half, but the Tigers scored their lone goal in the second half for the victory. The Tigers took 13 shots on goal, while the Panthers only took one.

SMHS hosted Kingston Monday, before playing five straight road games — Alcoa, March 22; CCHS, March 26; Cookeville, March 28, CAK, April 5; and Smith County, April 9.

SMHS softball: No details were received on the Lady Panther season homer last Thursday against Alcoa, but the Lady Panthers will host Loudon tonight at 5 p.m., before traveling to CCHS Thursday for a 5 p.m. game.

They will play in the Gordonsville Tournament Friday and Saturday at Cane Creek.

SMHS tennis: No details were received on the tennis teams opener at Cookeville March 12 and their home match with Harriman March 14.

SMHS hosted Kingston and Scott County Monday, before traveling to Rockwood today.

SMHS track: The Panthers and Lady Panthers will run March 26 at Oak Ridge.
