The Cumberland County Jets Baseball squad defeated Upperman 4-1 in seven innings Tuesday at Jet Park behind Matt Ledbetter, who went 3-3 at the plate.
He doubled in the first inning, homered in the third inning, and tripled in the sixth inning.
The Jets got the win thanks in large part to Morgan Richard's dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Morgan allowed one earned run, three hits and three walks over seven innings.
Ryan Lafever was the game's losing pitcher for Upperman. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.
The Jets claimed the lead in the first inning thanks to a rally that saw two runs cross the plate after a double by Grant Parrett, a RBI double by Matt Ledbetter and an RBI single by Reed Shaw.
Cumberland County Jets varsity brought home one run in the third inning with Ledbetter’s home run, and matched that run total in the sixth with a Ledbetter triple and a Reed Shaw squeeze.
The Jets travel south to play in the Playing For A Cure Cancer Benefit tournament this weekend hosted by McMinn Central.
