Sommer is ninth in Cherokee Classic

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School cross country teams competed in the Cherokee Classic Saturday hosted by Metro Knoxville Cross Country. The Lady Jets finished eighth overall and fifth in the large school division behind Maryville in both, while the Jets were 11th overall behind Daniel Boone and ninth in the large school division behind Daniel Boone.

Kassidy Sommer finished ninth for the Lady Jets in 19:50.29, followed by Caroline Cravens (21:34.94), Chelsey Roysdon (21:59.75), Lindsey Roysdon (22:54.19),  Selinda Bryant (23:26.92), Taylor Hammons (24:43.03) and Madeline Toy (27:56.84).

Bradley Mathis led the Jets in 17:12.11) followed by Ben Tabor (17:18.85), Nathan Phillips (18:03.89), Kevin Buffkin (18:11.27), Kyle Lockwood (19:13.3), Ryan Tabor (19:37.77) and Brady Adams (21:31.57).

Cumberland County will run in the Backyard Invitational in Sparta at 9 a.m.
