Ward’s hole-in-one is highlight of Exchange Club Golf Tournament

CROSSVILLE — After being rained out in April, the Lake Tansi Exchange Club Golf Tournament was played June 15 at the Tansi Golf Course, but the highlight of the tournament was a hole-in-one by Kay Ward of Murfreesboro. She recorded an ace on the par 3, third hole to win a new car from Dave Kirk Automotive.

She and her playing partners, Shelia Davenport, Diane Edmondson and Gina Maxwell, finished with a 12-under-par 60, which was good for fifth place in the first flight, three strokes behind Tom Solberg, David Potter, Larry Heslip and Tom Looney.

Solberg's team won a scorecard playoff over Bobby Randolph, Jerry Crabtree, Donnie Dixon and Joe Woody. Roger Potter, Brian Dailey, Chuck Dale and Stuart Smith won third in a scorecard playoff over Rick Matzelle, Phil Vaughn, Dan Ferry and David Kerr.

Another scorecard playoff determined the winner of the second flight, as four teams tied at nine-under-par 63.

Bill Roberts, Everett Cook, Eddie Liskovec and Sonny Poland took the nod over Debbie Jones, Janet Brooker, Ann McKinney and Ann Looney, and Tommy Bean, Johnny Frank Warner, Rob Jones and Julian Galan. Fourth was Mike Dalton, Kathy Dillon, Jason Sitton and Sonya Sitton.

Two more scorecard playoffs determined the winners in the second flight.

Tammy Kosar, Todd Mono, Dino D'Agostino and Karen D'Agostino won first place over Jim Jacobs, Jim Hellem, Stuart Pauley and Sheridan Miszklevitz. Both finished at seven-under-par 65.

Third place in the second scorecard playoff went to Ken Deadmon, Mike Givens, Lee Garner and Panco Fuentes, as they tied Cameron Sexton, Joe Salvato, Jerry Harris and Tori Harris at six-under-par 66.

Tom Upshaw, Ron Tomlinson, Ron Bystol and Jerry Mayo won the third flight via another scorecard playoff over Bob Murray, Roger Coulther, Jim Ratliff and Jim Nelson. Both tied at one-under-par 71.

Les Elam, Bud Garchow, Sam Fleming and Jon Stewart took third in another scorecard playoff over Patti Welch, Margie Parko, Bonnie Mullins and Barb Sullins; and Harry Preston, Gene Ballew, Cindy Huth and Marth Huth. All three finished at even par 72.
