SMHS splitswith Antioch


CROSSVILLE — The Stone Memorial basketball teams traveled to Antioch Saturday afternoon for make-up games with Lighthouse Christian School and came away with a split, as the Lady Panthers were victorious 57-47; however, the Panthers were beaten 59-46.

Lady Panthers 57, Lighthouse Christian 47: According to the Tennessean, SMHS took a 15-9 lead after one quarter, but the hosts used a 16-8 second quarter to take a 25-23 lead at the break. SMHS outscored Lighthouse Christian 34-22 in the second half to improve to 8-8 on the season.

Leading scorers were Kirsten Potter (16), Courtney White (10), Sidney Early (8), Abby Griffin (8), Lacey Melton (8), Bailey Rutldege (5), Riley Hunt (2) and Jordan Thompson (2). Tiffany Cokkinias also played.

Lighthouse Christian 59, SMHS 46: Lighhouse Christian opened the game with a 19-9 first-quarter run and extended the lead to 35-19 at the half. A 16-7 third quarter by the Panthers sliced the lead to 42-35; however, Lighthouse Christian finished the game with a 17-11 run for the final margin.

Leading scorers for the Panthers were Justin Simmons (13), Luke Matthews (9), Tyler Yoder (9), Gage Spence (6), Parker Hill (3), Colliln Russell (3), Brandon Thomas (2) and Chandler VanNatter (1). Taylor Orme also played.

SMHS has three games this week:  at Lanchaster Christian Tuesday, at CCHS Friday and Alcoa at home Saturday.
