25 teams participate in City Golf Tournament

CROSSVILLE — Threatening skies gave way to a beautiful day June 11, as 100 golfers competed in the annual City of Crossville Golf Tournament at Lake Tansi.

Micah McShan, Nick Davis, Dusty Norrod and Trent Stokes shot a 14-under-par 58 to claim the first flight championship, one stroke better than Craig Wyatt, Kyle Turne, Ernest Barnwell and Ed Barnwell.

The tournament was divided into two flights after play, with the first flight breaking from 58-64, while the second flight scores broke from 65 and higher.

A scorecard playoff was needed to determine the second flight winners, as three teams finished a with seven-under-par 65.

Chris and Tyler Bennett, Jon Robertson and Steve Johnson won the scorecard playoff for first over Greg Dorton, Chuck Dale, Jon Bergerson and Eugene Randolph. Mike Dalton, Tommy Waltman, Gerald Brewer and Jake Dailey lost to the Dorton team in the scorecard playoff.

There were five teams at six-under-par 66.

Closest to the hole winners were Tony Temple, No. 3; Dave Hickey, No. 6; Bill Nichol, No. 12; and Ernest Barnwell, No. 15. Marty Wennermark had the longest drive on No. 9, while Dusty Norrod had the straightest drive on No. 16.
