CROSSVILLE — The annual Jr. Golf Academy held its three-day run last week at Bear Trace Cumberland Mountain under the leadership of Cody King, Scott Overly and Kelvin Burgin. Attending the three-day academy were, not in order, Mason Wyatt, Kelsee Neely, Leif Smith, Colton Koinig, Noah Anderson, Justin Reed, Holley Shaw, Conor Lowe, Garrett Graham, Jaxon Reed, Rylan Guettaer, Jacob Atkinson, Devin Lively, Ali Novak, Mason Skowronski, Bryson Neely, Tyler Hall, Briley Davis, Harley Shaver, Graham Davidson, Gavin Overly and Leah Burgin. Contest winners were chipping (younger group)— 1. Leah Burgin; 2. Devin Lively; putting (younger group)— Briley Davis and Harley Shaver; chipping — 1. Kelsee Neeley; 2. Jaxon Reed; putting — 1. Kelsee Neely, 2. Jaxon Reed; closest to the pin — 1. Justin Reed, 2. Leif Smith; closest to the pin (younger group)— 1. Gavin Overly; 2. Leah Burgin; and longest putt champion — 1. Briley Davis.

Hedgecoth takes first in sporting clays at state championship
Cody Hedgecoth, the 17-year-old grandson of Peggy and Bobby Houston and son of Missy and William Hedgecoth, won first place in varsity sporting clays at the Tennessee State Championship. He won by shooting 97 out of 100 clay targets.
Wyatt leads team to win in Crossville Team Championship
Greg Wyatt fired a three-under-par 69 to lead his team to a 12-under-par 60 to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the City of Crossville Team Championship Tuesday morning at Lake Tansi.
