CROSSVILLE — Cumberland County High School will be celebrating basketball homecoming Friday night when the Jets and Lady Jets will be hosting District 6AAA foe Warren County. Voting for homecoming king and queen will take place when the games open until halftime of the girls game. Coronation ceremonies will be help between games. The homecoming candidates are, from left, standing, Corey Brooks, Nolan McClain, Cody Barnes, Zakk King, Logan Parsons, Brandon Myers, Alex Dixon and Nick Burgess; and kneeling, Klaire Varney, Kelsey Eldridge, Victoria Lee, Kirsten Cox, Rebekah Teeple, Erin Dille, Kenzie Woods and Kassandra Looschen.

Burns’ single gives SMHS walk-off 4-3 win over Jets
Wayne Burns' two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Stone Memorial Panther baseball team a 4-3 win over the CCHS Jets in District 6AAA action on Panther field Monday night.
Few openings remain for Exchange Club tourney
With a few days left, the Lake Tansi Exchange Club has very few openings for its 28th annual benefit golf tournament Saturday, at 1 p.m. at the Lake Tansi Golf Course. All paid entries must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Cumberland County elementary golf teams posted two more victories over the last few days.
TAD Center hosts Pitch, Hit & Run competition
The TAD Center will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition sponsored by Scotts, for area youth May 3 at 9 a.m. at Garrison Park.
Lady Jets fall to Lady Cavs
The Plateau Classic champion Lady Jets hosted District 6AAA foe Cookeville last Thursday night, but the Lady Cavaliers spoiled the party with a 8-1 victory.
Lady Panthers go 3-3 for the week
The Stone Memorial Lady Panthers finished last week with a 3-3 record, after playing in the Plateau Classic and playing district games with Rhea County and White County.
Jets go 1-2 over spring break
The CCHS Jet baseball went 1-2 over spring break to improve to 17-10 on the season, after losing to Greeneville 3-2 in eight innings last Thursday, beating Cocke County 7-1 last Friday and losing 10-4 to Knox Carter last Saturday.
Track teams compete in Chattanooga Optimist meet
The track and field teams from Cumberland County and Stone Memorial high schools competed in the Chattanooga Optimist Southeastern U.S. Invitiational Friday afternoon at Walker Valley High School.

The third annual Doug Server Shoot-On-The–Mountain was held April 5 at the Sportsman Club on Shorty Barnes Rd.
OH GOOD GRIEF: Martin out as Vol hoop coach
The University of Tennessee's beleaguered head basketball coach, Cuonzo Martin is gone. Martin resigned Tuesday to become the head coach at the University of California, which won the 2010 PAC-10 championship under retiring coach Mike Montgomery.
