Sign ups set for youth baseball, softball

CROSSVILLE — The Crossville Youth Baseball and Softball League will be having sign-ups at the Crossville Parks and Recreaton Office from Jan. 27-Feb. 20. Evulations will be at SMHS March 1. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Boys leagues are based on player's age on May 1, 2014, while the girls leagues are on player's ages on Jan. 1, 2014.

The boys leagues are  T-ball (ages 5-6), coach/pitch (ages 7-8), baseball (ages 9-10) and baseball ages (11-12). The girls leagues are T-ball (5-6), coach/pitch (7-9), fast pitch softball (9-11) and fast pitch softball (12-15).

Registration fee is $45 per player or $135 maximum per family.

Evaluation times for Feb. 22 are:

Oldest group begins at 10 a.m.

9-10 year olds at 11 a.m.

Coach/machine pitch league at noon

T-ball at 1 p.m.

    Levi Wilson, an 11th grade student at Daniel 1 Academy, and Dalton Schubert, a ninth grade student at Home Life Academy, will represent Tennessee on the National High School rodeo team and travel will fellow teammates to Rock Springs, WY, July 13-19 to compete at the 66th annual National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) in the team roping competition.

  • Field grows for Women's Open

    The field for the 16th annual Golf Capital of Tennessee Women's Open hosted by the Tennessee Golf Association is 50.7 percent (73 of 144) complete for its July 31-Aug. 2 run at Stonehenge Golf Club in Fairfield Glade as the entry deadline is at 5 p.m. July 16.

  • FCA to host scramble Aug. 16

    The Upper Cumberland  Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting a golf scramble Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Heatherhurst Crag course.
    Registration starts at 7 a.m. with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. The cost per player is $100, which includes golf with cart, a Lefty's BBQ lunch, a goody bag, hat, great team and individual prizes, and support for the local FCA huddle groups.

    A beautiful 4th of July weekend greeted the race fans at Crossville Raceway. A good car count, some good racing, and a great fireworks show, sponsored by Fitzgerald Glider Kits, kept the fans excited all night long.
