Receives karate belt promotion

— On Monday, July 8, at the Roane County School of Isshinryu Karate in Harriman. Tommy True (9th Degree Black Belt), right, awarded Art Palmer from Art Palmer's School of Karate in Crossville an 8th Degree Black Belt. Art has been training in martial arts for 37 years and teaching for over 35 years (a minimum of 29 years of training in Isshinryu Karate is required to even be eligible for 8th Degree ranking. The Isshinryu system goes up to 10th Degree Black Belt with 9th and 10th Degree requiring board level approval, only a  small handful of Isshinryu Karate Masters hold 7th to 10th Degree Isshinryu Black Belts in the United States.

Palmer is very humble about this achievement, but his instructor (Tommy True). the IIKA board, his students, peers and family are very proud of this accomplishment.
