Elementary golf teams post victories

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County elementary golf teams posted two more victories over the last few days.

On Monday, the boys defeated Rhea County 183-200, and the girls won 99-132 at Bear Trace Cumberland Mountain, while last Thursday at Lake Tansi, the boys beat Prescott 176-246 and the girls won 106-141.

Leading scorers in the Rhea County match were Hogan Herring (41), Zach Young (40), Jay Burgin (47), Jordan Burgess (55), Justin Reed (56), Leif Smith (56) and Caleb Smith (55). The top four scores count in the team total.

Scores for the girls were Kelsee Neely (99), Gracie Whittenburg (49) and Holly Shaw (67).

Leading scorers in the Prescott match were Hogan Herring (41), Zach Young (41), Jay Burgin (46), Jordan Burgess (48), Justin Reed (48), Caleb Smith (57) and Brady Brewer (56). Again, the top four scores count in the team score.

Playing for the girls were Kelsey Neely (47), Gracie Whittenburg (59), Holly Shaw (65) and Jillian Petrovit (66). The top two scores count in the team total.
