District 6AAA freshmen tourney to be played Saturday at Rhea Co.

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County and Stone Memorial freshmen basketball teams will be playing in the District 6AAA Tournament Saturday at Rhea County High School.

The Lady Jets were seeded first, followed by White County, SMHS, Warren County, Cookeville and Rhea County.

Girls tournament schedule

10 a.m.: Cookeville vs. Warren County on the upstairs court.

11:30 a.m.:  Rhea County vs. Stone on the upstairs court.

1 p.m.: Cookeville/Warren County winers vs. CCHS on the main court.

2:30 p.m.: Rhea County/SMHS winner vs. White County

5:30 p.m.: Championship game.

All times are EST.

The boys pairings and seedings were unavailable at press time Thursday.

    The Cookeville Cavaliers scored seven runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to claim a 7-0 District 6AAA victory over the CCHS Jets Monday night in Cookeville.

    On a wet Monday afternoon, the Stone Memorial baseball team  hosted Rhea County in a District 6AAA match-up to claim a 10-0 win in the first game of the home-and-home series.

    The SMHS Lady Panthers had another stellar day while the Panthers hammered out a solid day in Knoxville in the Tennessee Relays over the weekend.. The Lady Panthers finished ninth out of the 57 scheduled teams to compete, while the boys took 32nd out of the 57.

    The Stone Memorial tennis teams lost their District 6AAA matches to Rhea County Monday afternoon. The boys lost 9-0, while the girls were beaten 7-2.

    The Cumberland County High School Jet baseball team completed last week with a 1-2 record to go to 14-8 on the season, after a 4-3 loss at Dekalb County last Thursday, an 11-7 setback to Walker Valley and an 8-3 win at Livingston Saturday.
