Lady Jet soccer team beats Rhea County 1-0

CROSSVILLE — The Lady Jets soccer team defeated the Rhea County Lady Eagles last night to cap off their season with two wins and send off their lone senior Mia Mijatovic in good style.

According to Coach Cub Whitson, the game was a stale-mate until early in the second half, when Balie Houston recorded her third goal of the season. Both teams fought hard the rest of the match, but the score remained the same.

After the game, Mijatovic was recognized for playing all four years and complemented by her teammates and coaches. "Mia is a great young lady, she has put in four years of dedication and commitment to our program and we're very thankful to have had her. We're going to miss her positivity and sense of humor when she graduates and moves back to Croatia," said Coach Cub Whitson.

Also, senior Kristi Rose was recognized for one year of playing and one year of managing.

"Kristi has a great personality and does a great job managing. She usually gets things done before I even have to ask her. It's too bad she didn't get to suit up this season, but just having her around made the atmosphere better," concluded Whitson.

CCHS opened district play Monday afternoon at White County.
