Jets finish third in District 6AAA Golf tournament

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School Jet golf team finished third in the District 6AAA golf tournament Sept. 19 at Riverwatch to earn a berth in the Region 3AAA Tournament Sept. 25 at Riverwatch.

Cookeville was first with a 301, followed by Warren County (311), CCHS (323), White County (330), Rhea County (366) and SMHS (378).

Logan Stewart led the Jets with a 75 to finish fourth medalist. Rounding out the scoring were Jordan Graham (78), D.J. Shelton (84), Andrew Brown (86) and Chandler Shelton (89).

Dustin Lee paced SMHS with an 89, followed by Stone McCoy (95), Chase Allred (96), Parker Hill (98) and Wyatt Smith (101).

Team scores

Cookeville (301): Sean Conaly 78, Robert Agee 74, Travis Bumbalough 73, Daniel Jared 85, Will Brooks 76.

Warren County (311): Nicholas Powell 80, Clayton Myers 72, Bracton Womack 81, Houston Wood 85, Nick Stern 78.

CCHS (323): Logan Stewart 75, Jordan Graham 78, D.J. Shelton 84, Andrew Brown 86, Chandler Shelton 89.

White County (330): Cameron Bruce• 78, Haden Welch• 82, Tommy Sparkman• 84, Zack Payne• 86, K.J. Enlow 97.

Rhea County (366): Drew Gunter 95, Chase Watson 94, Clay Varner 96, Seth Jones 92, Spencer Robinson* 85.

SMHS (378): Stone McCoy 95, Dustin Lee 89, Wyatt Smith 101, Chase Allred 96, Parker Hill 98.

•These golfers qualify for the region as individuals.

The top four scores count in the team total.

Warren County won the girls title with a 148, followed by White County (175), Cookeville (182) and Rhea County  (254).

White County (175): Shelby Johnson 80, Melanie Payne 95, Kate Ferguson 116.

All of the girls qualify for the region.

    The CCHS Jet baseball went 1-2 over spring break to improve to 17-10 on the season, after losing to Greeneville 3-2 in eight innings last Thursday, beating Cocke County 7-1 last Friday and losing 10-4 to Knox Carter last Saturday.
