The Cumberland County Mountaineers junior football and cheerleading program is accepting sign-ups for its 2013 season for children ages 4 –12 (by Aug.1) in football and cheerleading on April 27 from 9 a.m.-noon. Interested persons can sign up at the Mountaineer Practice Field located just past the farmers market off Hwy 70 at the orange concession building, or anytime through online registration — now through July 19 on the Mountaineer website www.ccjflmountaineers.com.
First 100 participants who register online and have the fee turned in will receives a $5 Mountaineers voucher.
Registration fee for the 2013 season is $65 per child with discounts available for each additional child in the same household.
Camp for football and cheerleading will be held June 24, 25, 27 and 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Mountaineer practice field located beside the community complex. Participants will be taught the fundamentals of football or cheerleading and do not have to participate in the regular season to participate in camp. Cost of camp is $30 per child.
The football draft will be July 19 (fee must be paid). Football equipment will be issued July 20. Cheerleading draft and uniform handout will be July 20. (Fee must be paid.)
Practice for the regular season begins Monday, July 29, with practices Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7 p.m. each week. Practice times may vary with cheerleading with games each Saturday. The jamboree is Aug. 17 in Monterey. (All participants must be present for one-time weigh in.)
The Cumberland County Mountaineers are part of the Tennessee Valley Conference and play Monterey, Pikeville, Grundy Co. and Dunlap. Football and cheerleading coaches are needed for the 2013 season. All coaches are volunteers.
