Lady Jet softball team beats White County 5-1

CROSSVILLE — The CCHS Lady Jet softball team defeated the White County Warriors 5-1 Friday Thursday for their second win in a row to even their record at 3-3. The Lady Jets also defeated Clarkrange 16-1 on March 22.

CCHS 5, White County 1: The Lady Jets scored once in the bottom of the first, once in the bottom of the second and three in the bottom of the fifth inning, before allowing one in top of the seventh.

Whitney Hankins was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on four hits with five strike outs. Erin Dille cracked three hits with one RBI, while Bailey Woods, Kenzie Woods, Tori Kerley and Callie Borgialli each poked one hit.

CCHS 16, Clarkrange 1: The Lady Jets scored seven runs on eight hits in the first inning. Bailey Woods, Dustiny Lewis and Dille each singled, while Lydia Harris, Borgialli and Bri Qualls all doubled and Kerley tripled. There was also two walks.

They added seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning on two singles by Bailey Woods, one single by Hankins , Kenzie Woods, doubles by Kerley and Amber Johnson and three walks.

CCHS scored once in the fourth on a walk, two fielder's choices and a hitbatsman to end the inning on the TSSAA mercy rule.

Schedule: The Lady Jets return to District 6AAA play with two games this week — at Warren County tonight and at White County Thursday. They will host Coffee County April 9 and travel to Clarkrange April 11, before hosting the Plateau Classic April 12-13 at Crossville Centennial Park.
