Youth baseball sign-ups under way

CROSSVILLE — Crossville Youth Baseball and Softball sign-ups are now under way   through Feb. 20 for the upcoming season.

There are four leagues for boys —T-ball (ages 5-6), machine pitch (ages 7-8), baseball (9-10) and baseball (ages 11-12).  Baseball will be   affiliated with Cal Ripken.

The boys leagues are based on player's age on May 1, 2013. Evaluations for Cal Ripken will be Feb. 23 in the Stone Memorial   auxiliary gym, beginning at 10 a.m. with the oldest age group,  

followed by the 9-10 year olds at 11 a.m., coach/pitch at noon and T- ball at 1 p.m.

If you can't make your time slot, come when you can. Players not  evaluated with be drafted last. Coaches may observe evaluations. The  final selection of coaches will be made by Feb. 28, based on league  needs and directors' decision.

Players wishing to play up in a higher age group must make a written request. Requests will be approved by CYBS board on an individual  basis. No players will be allowed to play below their age group, due  to insurance and safety reasons. Parents needing financial assistance may make written application.

The girls leagues are based on Jan. 1, 2013, and have four divisions -  T-ball (ages 5-6), coach/pitch (ages 7-8), fastpitch (ages 9-10-11)   fastpitch (ages 12-13-14-15).

The registration fee is $45 per player or $135 maximum per family.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Crossville Recreation Park  Office or mailed to CYBS, P.O. Box 3651, Crossville, TN 38557-3651.
