CROSSVILLE — The Plateau Longbeards 14th annual JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) Day will be Saturday, Aug. 10, at 8 am. at the Caryonah Hunting Lodge.

JAKES Day is a fun-fiilled day for kids 17 and under to experience outdoor activities and to learn more about them while having fun. All you need to bring is fishing rods and everything else is provided. Parents can relax and listen to live music or just enjoy watching their kids have fun. The event is free and lunch will be provided for everyone.

Besides fishing, the other activities to enjoy are canoeing, trap shooting (hunter safety required), inflatables, rifle ranges, Extreme JAKES (hunter safety required), fur harvesters, BB guns, fishing and hunting seminars, tree stand safety, face painting and archery.

Participants must be 19 years or older with hunter safety course to participate in trap shooting and 13-17 years of age with hunter safety course in the Extreme JAKES area. Bring your hunter safety card if you plan to participate.

They are also partnering with local food banks this year to help provide food for less fortunate families in the community. They are asking each family attending to donate non-perishable or canned food items to help support this effort. Collection will be provided at registration.
