The Cumberland County High School Jets cross country team finished second in the Region 3AAA meet Thursday at Fort Bluff Camp in Dayton to earn a spot in the state meet Nov. 3 in Nashville. The Lady Jets finished fourth and the junior varsity took second place.
Ryan Bedgood's third-place finish in 16:57.88 helped the Jets compile 83 points, second behind Cookeville (64) and ahead of third-place finisher Cleveland (87). All three teams qualfiy for the state.
Rounding out the Jets' times were Bradley Mathis, 17:52.31; A.J. Page, 18:19.54; Kevin Buffkin, 18:29.68; Kyle Lockwood, 18:34.33; Todd Wisor, 18:37.99; and Landon Crawford, 19:15.25.
Lindsey Roysdon's 16th-place time of 22:37.22 helped the Lady Jets finish with 96 points, fourth behind Rhea County (44), Cookeville (52) and White County (79).
Rounding out the Lady Jets' times were Jennifer Hedgecoth, 23:53.92; Caroline Cravens, 23:25.01; Selinda Bryant, 23:38.44; Meghan Server, 24:58.15 and Taylor Hammons, 25:35.06.
The CCHS junior varsity finished with 57 points, behind Cleveland (42).
Aiden Morrison's fifth-place finish in 20:09.78 paced CCHS, followed by Nathan Phillips, 20:16.77; Shawn Foster, 20:29.06; Ryan Tabor, 22:16.52; Marissa Vincent, 25:54.49; and Sharon Ulloa, 38:51.33.
