Clark’s lay-up gives South Rebels the Admiral Classic championship


CROSSVILLE — Silas Clark's layup with seconds in the game gave the South Rebels a 31-30 come from behind win over Farragut in the Admiral Classic during holiday break.

According to Coach Randy Herring, South trailed 18-9 at the half in the championship game, and picked up the pressure to close the gap to 19-17 at the end of the third quarter.

Farragut took control game in the fourth quarter to lead by seven points with a minute to go, but the Rebels forced three turnovers to cut the deficit to one with nine seconds left.

Clark then drove the baseline for the winning bucket over three Admirals and had 12 of his game high 20 points in the fourth quarter.  "What a great win for the Rebels. This game really tested our character and we were able to pull it out. Farragut is a quality team. I'm proud of our effort. This win will help us down the road," stated Herring.  

Also contributing to the win was Lee Hale (4) Josh Dykes (3), Hayden Woody (2) and Jacob Kerley (2) pts. each. Hogan Herring also played.

Silas Clark, Hayden Woody and Lee Hale were named to the All-Tournament team.

South defeated West Valley 58-45. Leading scorers were Clark (24), Dykes (11), Kerley (11), Hale (7), Woody (3) and Zack Street (2).

In game two, the Rebels defeated Jacksboro 51-35, behind Clark's 24 points. Also in the scoring column were Hale (8), Woody (7), Kerley (4), J. Dykes (3). R. Dykes (3) and Hogan Herring (2).

In game three, South beat Carter 42-28 behind Clark's 24 markers. Rounding out the scoring were Woody (7), Hale (6), Herring (2), Mason Wyatt (2) and Kerley (1).
