SMHS freshman, sophomores drop games to Cookeville

CROSSVILLE — The Stone Memorial freshman/sophomore team dropped a pair of close games at Cookeville Monday night, as the Lady Panthers lost 49-45 and the Panthers lost 57-45.

Cookeville 49, SMHS 45: Scoring for the Lady Panthers was led by Brittany Brun with 13 points followed by Lexi Hinch (5), Sammie Jo Wyatt (2), Abigail Stine (2), Hailey Coudriet (7),  Jenna Beaty (3), Sam Gray (9), and Megan Cox (4). Allison Padgett also played.

Cookeville 57, SMHS 45: Leading scorers for the Panthers were Tristan Norman with 14 and Mason Baucum with 13 followed by Shade Foster (8), Chandler VanNatter (6), Nathaniel Sexton (3) and Jamie Nichols (2). Austin Helton and Gage Cox also saw action Thursday. 

The freshman/sophomore team will return to action Jan. 6 at Rhea County. The junior varsity girls' next action is at Alcoa Jan. 4 at 1 p.m., while both JV teams play White County Jan. 10.
