Sloane VanWinkle inks with Martin Methodist

CROSSVILLE — Former Lady Jet basketball player Sloane VanWinkle signed with Martin Methodist of Pulaski, TN, last Wednesday afternoon in the CCHS library.

"Sloane is a four-year team member and an impressive three-point shooter. Her ability to shoot the ball impacted our success during the 2011-'12 season and will continue to be a strength for our team," said Miller. "She is a relentless competitor and she will be vital to our success with her offensive shooting regime and her competitive edge. Sloane's offensive and defensive mindset, her leadership, work ethic and desire to win will definitely inspire and ignite our success," said Coach Radhika Miller at the start of the 2012-'13 season.

"Sloan (guard) has a great shot and her quickness enables her to add to our defensive regime and attack the basket and score," said Miller prior to the 2011-'12 season.

Following her senior season, she was one of several Lady Jets to record a 3.5 GPA or higher, was honorable mention All-District 6AAA and won the team's UNITY Award.

Following her junior season, she was also recognized for a 3.5 GPA and was second-team All-District 6AAA.

She played in 68 games during her career, averaged 60.20 percent from the free throw line (59 of 98), attempted 32 of 145 field goals for 22.07 percent, was 99 of 350 from three point range for 28.99 percent;  totaled 665 points (9.78 per game), 73 rebounds (1.07 per game) and had 49 steals and 33 assists in her career.

She is daughter of Scott and Tina VanWinkle and the granddaughter of Dan and Aarona VanWinkle.
