CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County High School track teams traveled to Johnson City Saturday for the Tri-Cites Track Classic against some of the top teams in the state.

The Lady Jets finished 12th in the meet with  20 points, behind Science Hill and 10 other teams.

Taonna Miller finished third in the 100-meter dash in 13.31, after finishing eighth in her qualifying heat in 13.58. She finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.65, after a qualifying heat of 1:04.38. Marissa Vincent was 1:06.76 in the qualifying heat.

"Taonna Miller's times were her best of the year. In the prelims the 100 and 400 were 20 minutes apart and the finals only 10 minutes apart. She ran excellent. Kassidy Sommer set PRT's in both her races. The true mile is converted to a 5:28.58 which is also her PR. What started off badly with our times in the 4x800 actually became a pretty good day. There were 26 scoring teams there but 33 overall teams. Not too shabby for only taking six girls and six boys,"

Kassidy Sommer finished 10th in the 800-meter run (2:33.78), with Jennifer Hedgecoth 19th (2:39.34) and Brianna Taylor 21st (2:40.46).

Sommer was 11th in the one-mile run in 5:30.55.

The Lady Jets finished third in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:25.80 and fifth in the 4x800 relay in 10:51.50.

Bradley Mathis finished 20th in the 800-meter run in 2:09.74, while Seth Randall finished 16th (45.67) in the 300-meter hurdles.

CCHS was 11th in the the 4.x400 relay (3:54.87) and 13th in the 4x800 relay (9:11.12).

The Best of the preps was canceled and CCHS will run in the Little Cesaers Championships at Red Bank High School on Thursday. They will compete again on Friday at Anderson County High School in the Dale Legg Invitational.
