Stewart signs golf scholarship with Limestone College

CROSSVILLE — Cumberland County senior Logan Stewart will continue his golfing career at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC..

"What a great honor Logan. I'm so pround that he will be playing golf at Limestone in South Carolina. It's a testament to his work ethic and desire to get better and play at the college level," said CCHS Coach Randy Herring. "Limestone has a quality golf program and Logan will have chance to contribute immediately. I'm going to miss his leadership on and off the course. I expect big things from him at Limestone."

He played 102 career rounds for CCHS for average of 79.0 overall.

As a senior, he averaged 77.8 for 24 rounds, including a best 18-hole round of 73 at Riverwatch and had a 75 in the district tournament at Rverwatch. He finished in the top 10 at both region and district tournaments, the Keith Maxwell Invitational and the Golf Capital Classic.

As a junior, he averaged 76.1 per round, including a 70 at Sparta and a 78 in the district tournament in McMinnville. He shot a 74 in the regional at Bear Trace Harrison Bay. He had top 10 finishes at Cookeville, Golf Captial Classic, Keith Maxwell Invitational and district tournament.

As a sophomore, he average 79.6, including a 69 at Cookeville, a 79 at the district at Bear Trace and an 83 at the region at Lake Tansi. He had a top 10 finish in the district tournament.

His freshman year he averaged 82.2 and shot a 74 at Heatherhurst, a 77 at Cookeville and an 88 at the region at Valleybrook. He had a top 10 finish in the district tournament.

Also, Stewart shot a 142 (71-71) to win the Boys 15-18 division of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tournamen event played a Bear Trace Cumberland Mountain Oct. 18-20 and earned a spot in the 2013 HJGT Tour championship.

He trailed Chase Cole of Greeneville, SC by one stroke after one round and came on round two to shoot the only score under par in his division. Stewart started the final round birdieing four holes on the front nine; however, he triple bogeyed No. 10, double bogeyed No. 13 and bogeyed No. 14.

The CCHS senior then battled through the adversity and birdied the final four holes to hold off Cole.
