Crossville Recreational Youth Soccer Association fall league forming

Sign-ups for the ninth season of the Crossville Recreational Youth Soccer Association (CRYSA) fall season begins May 1 and continues through May 31. Players may register online at www.eteamz.com/CRYSA, at the Crossville Parks and Recreation Office at Centennial Park on Industrial Blvd., at Century 21 on North Main St. or by returning forms that will be mailed to all eligible players from last season.

CRYSA is for children ages five to 15. Children must five years old and not yet 16 years old by Aug. 1. The league is split into five divisions: U7, five- and six-year-olds; U9, seven- and eight-year-olds; U11, nine- and 10-year-olds; U13, 11- and 12-year-olds; and U16, 13-, 14- and 15-year-olds.

Cost is $40 per child with a maximum of $100 per family and includes insurance and uniform, consisting of jersey, shorts and socks. Limited financial aid is available upon early request.

Player draft: CRYSA coaches will select players for their teams on Tuesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 19. U7 coaches will select players at 6 p.m. on June 17, followed by the U9 draft at 7:30 p.m. U11 coaches will draft on June 19 at 6 p.m. followed by the U13 draft at 7:30 p.m. and the U16 draft at 8:30 p.m.

CRYSA Soccer Camp: The annual CRYSA Soccer Camp will be June 9-13 at Crossville Centennial Park for players who played in the CRYSA fall league last season.

The camp is divided into a half-day camp and a full-day camp. The half-day camp runs from 8 a.m. to noon and costs $60. The full-day camp runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $100.

The camp is under the direction of CRYSA director of coaching Geir Bergvin.

Bergvin also coaches the Stone Memorial High School Panthers boys' soccer team. He has been involved with soccer for more than 40 years, both as a player and a coach.

Bergvin has played semi-professional soccer and holds a "B" coaching license. He coached select soccer in Ohio, a U17 team in his native Norway and in the Olympic Development Program in Ohio.
