Openings available for Lake Tansi Exchange Club golf outing

There are several openings for 22nd annual Lake Tansi Exchange Club benefit golf tournament which is this weekend at the Tansi Golf Club.

The deadline to enter the tournament is Wednesday. This is a 36-hole, four-person scramble, which will be flighted at the end of play on Saturday.

"This event is a major fund raiser for the Tansi Exchange Club which has contributed more than $253,000 to many causes and organizations in the surrounding area in just the last 11 years. As you can see, this fund raiser is very important to our Exchange Club," said Ken Deadmon of Cumberland County Bank and member of the Tansi Exchange Club.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three foursomes in each flight.

The entry fee is $300 per team or $75 per person.

"I say only because, un-like most tournaments which are one day, this tournament is a two-day event that includes the cart, a great meal with 'homemade' desserts, on course special events, gift certificates for winning teams, great golf related door prizes both days, hole-in-one prizes which include a new car. What a great value in golf while helping a great cause," he added.

The field will be limited to the first 32 paid teams for the shotgun start both days.

Contact the pro shop for starting times and hole assignments. A cookout will follow Sunday's round at the Pavilion. Extra guests may attend for $5 per person.

There will be prizes for most accurate drive — #16 for men and #2 for women, and closest to the pin on all par 3s. There is a special prize for the Most Unusual Dressed Foursome, door prizes and "goodie bags" for all entries.

There will be new cars and vacations for hole-in-prizes both days.

Mulligans will be sold for both rounds prior to the start of Saturday's play. The cost is $10 per person for mulligans, one for Saturday, and one for Sunday.
