The Stone Memorial High School Lady Panther softball team defeated the Loudon Lady Redskins 5-4 Thursday afternoon to improve to 15-9 overall and 7-1 in District 4AA.
Lacey McKinney hurled a complete game, allowing four runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts.
SMHS scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning on two errors and an infield grounder.
They added another run in the bottom of the second on singles by Kayla McCoy and Jalisa Parham. Courtesy runner Lauren Matthews scored the run.
In the bottom of the third, Randi Parsons walked and scored after singles by McKinney and April Melton.
Singles by Casey Scarlett and Parham produced a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
In the fifth, McKinney doubled and Melton singled, but were both stranded, while Parsons singled in the sixth.
The Lady Panthers will return to action on April 28, when they host Kingston in a District 4AA game, and will travel to Knox Catholic for a double-header on April 29 and host Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) on April 30 in a make-up game. They host CCHS on May 1 in the regular season finale at 5 p.m.
