Items recovered in burglary, theft; one charged

CROSSVILLE —  A woman who told police she received a phone call that a burglary and theft might be taking place at her father's residence resulted in the arrest of one suspect and a search for two others in connection with the incident, according to reports.

Charged with vehicle theft and theft of property is Donathan Davis Jr., 19, 510 Hillcrest Dr., according to Ptl. Dustin Lester's report. Investigation is continuing into the identities of two other suspects in the case.

Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Woodlawn Rd. last Thursday on a report of a burglary in progress and were met by a woman who told them three men traveling in a copper/brown Chevrolet pickup were stealing items at a residence. Also involved was a white box truck and, according to reports, the stealing of items at the residence had been going on for at least two days.

The daughter of the property owner reported that a freezer, GEO Metro motor, box truck with top cut off, a Dodge motor, stove insert, stove cook top and computer had been stolen. Value of the property was placed at $3,500.

A brown 1989 GMC Sierra pickup was found by Lester on Old Jamestown Hwy., not far from the theft scene. Evidence at the scene was recovered and led Det. Donald Hammons to check the recycling center off Hwy. 70 N where he found motors had been scrapped by the suspect.

Officers then traveled to the suspect's Hillcrest Dr. home where they found other items reportedly taken in the theft in the back yard of the suspect's residence.

All property stolen was recovered and returned to the owner as the investigation continues.
