This past Saturday, Fight Sports Crossville members made the trip to Pigeon Forge as two of it's members fought in the Valor Championship Kickboxing event held at the National Guard Armory. Those two members were Buddy Mackie and Ted Hayes.
Mackie and Hayes both are new to the sport, with both only training the last few months. Hayes stepped up and faced a much more experienced Brandon Metcalf in his amateur kickboxing debut. Metcalf was stepping in and making his seventh appearance in the Valor ring with a 2-4 record. Hayes showed a lot of heart and after a very close first round, was tko'ed in the second round.
Mackie faced MMA veteran Rocky Lange, who is a veteran of more than half a dozen MMA fights and made his amateur kickboxing debut along with Mackie.
They had a very exciting fight with nothing but action from the opening bell. After a shaky first round, Mackie was able to come back and drop Lange twice in second round, and three times in the third to finish the fight. Mackie won via a third round TKO picking up the victory over a much more experienced Lange.
Fight Sports Crossville is very proud of both of these young fighters and excited about upcoming events. For more information on the Fight Sports academy here in Crossville, or for more information on fighters or information on training please check out www.fscrossville.com or call (931) 787-0015.
