The Cumberland County Board of Education will hold a special-called meeting and work session Monday to discuss a contract with Donald Andrews, recently selected as the next director of schools.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Central Office, 368 Fourth St.
Jim Blalock, 8th District representative and chairman of the board, gave board members a proposed contract Thursday to study in advance of the meeting.
Blalock said, "I came up with this to get us started. We need to get a contract signed."
He urged board members to think about provisions they would like to see in the contract over the next few days.
Andrews, who was selected as the next director of schools April 13, will be visiting Cumberland County this weekend, and was in Cumberland County for several days the past week familiarizing himself with the community and school system.
Blalock's proposal calls for a four-year contract with Andrews, beginning July 1, 2013. Proposed salary is $110,000.
The board will also discuss its 2013-'14 budget during the work session.
The public is invited to attend the meetings.
