Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Cumberland County sheriff's investigators arrested a Crossville man last Friday and immediately took him to Knoxville for arraignment in the robbery of a Knox County bank.
Daniel Kerley, 20, of Birchwood Apts., was taken into custody without incident at his place of employment on Hwy. 127 N around 3 p.m. Dec. 6, according to a statement issued by the FBI this week. Sheriff's Chief Investigator Casey Cox and Investigator Jerry Jackson assisted the FBI agents from the Cookeville and Knoxville offices with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. Knoxville Police and Knox County Sheriff's Department investigators are also members of the task force.
A lone gunman entered the BB&T bank on Parkside Dr. at Turkey Creek on Dec. 2 and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Photos taken from a bank surveillance camera and posted by Knoxville media on the internet led to numerous tips that resulted in the arrest of Kerley. No one was injured in the incident.
Kerley remains in custody.
