CROSSVILLE — This year's Dave Kirk Automotive "The Key to your Success is Attendance” winner is 19 year old Whitney Gillihan.

Gillihan, red faced with tears of excitement, said, "I don't know what to think! I'm so nervous!"

When presented with the line up of new cars, Gillihan made her decision in a small amount of time after considering her options. She chose for her new ride a bright red 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.

All of the high schools in Cumberland County participated the 11th annual Dave Kirk Automotive "Attendance is the Key to Success" drawing on Tuesday. Eligible senior and junior students from SMHS, CCHS and Phoenix High School were gathered at Stone Memorial High School to participate in the yearly ritual.

Eleven finalists had previously been chosen over the course of the school year with four more finalists to be chosen from the crowd that day. The finalists from Stone Memorial High School were: Mckenzie Allen, Kristin Graczyk, Luke Matthews, Cody McCarl, Alexis Monday, Devon Neal, McKenzie True and Sarah Wick. From Cumberland County High School: Faith Bolles, Savannah Kerley, Taylor Penwell, Kansas Stamper, Leah Steavens, Nathaniel Wyatt and Chase Underwood. Nick Hartsock represented The Phoenix School.

The event began with acknowledgements to Roy Stone, the benefactor who donated land to build Stone Memorial High School amongst other countless charitable gestures for the community.

Dave Kirk of Dave Kirk Automotive said humbly, "If it weren't for Mr. Stone, guys like me would never have a chance."

The event proceeded with small prizes being throw into the crowd and a game in which three keys were each given to three lucky contestants to see which had the key that would open the trunk with $400 worth of prizes inside.

The finalists, as their names were called, each received cash prizes ranging from $50 to $100.
